Music Studio Executive Board Positions
The Music Studio PA Executive Board is a group of dedicated parents who volunteer their time to organize events, raise money, disseminate information, and help fulfill requests from Music Studio faculty.
Typically, there are more positions available than people filling them, so there is no barrier to Board membership with the exception of the Representative positions, which must be formally elected according to PA bylaws.
The positions the Board wishes to fill for the 2026-27 school year are as follows, along with a statement on the status of returning members for those positions. These statuses are presented not to discourage people from seeking positions for which members are returning, but to highlight where the biggest needs are. We encourage anyone who is interested in any position to contact us at music@laguardiahspa.org.
Ideally, every position would be filled by at least TWO people.
Instrumental/Vocal Representative
The "Reps" are the official representatives of the Music Studio in the school's General PA. They are also the first line of communication between the Assistant Principal of the Music Studio and the rest of the board and the PA at large, and as such are tasked with making sure the rest of the Board is aware of tasks and ensuring that board members have the resources they need to help. There are currently two Vocal co-reps and two Instrumental co-reps.
2026-27 Status: Our Vocal co-reps are finishing their time at LaGuardia. One current Board member has expressed interest in moving into the role. Our Instrumental co-reps have expressed interest in remaining in the role. THESE ROLES ARE ELECTED and ANYONE is welcome to run for these positions.
Treasurer
The Treasurers keep track of the money coming into and out of the Music Studio PA. This involves working with the General PA to make sure that money collected for the Music Studio is available to the Music Studio, and handling outlays and reimbursements for PA expenses and requests from the Music AP and faculty.
2026-27 Status: Our current treasurer wishes to remain in the role while also taking a larger role in the General PA. We are seeking at least one new person to support in the role.
Procurement Coordinator
A proposed new position for the upcoming school year - we expect Procurement coordinators to take a leading role in making ad hoc purchases for the PA and the school. Examples include the sourcing and purchasing of refreshments for sale at Music events, purchasing of clothing or accessories that the AP requests to be used by students at performances, and ordering food for occasions where the Music Studio PA provides meals for teachers working weekend events.
2026-27 Status: This is a new position, and we are seeking new Board members to fulfill it.
Merchandise Coordinator
Merchandise coordinators are responsible for the Music Studio merchandise that is sold at Music events. This includes designing and ordering new merchandise, re-ordering popular merchandise as supply dwindles, and managing the inventory.
2026-27 Status: One current Merchandise Coordinator is interested in remaining in the role. New members are welcome.
Communications Manager
The primary current role of the Communications managers is collecting information needed to write, and writing, the Studio's weekly newsletter, Music Monday, and the associated blurb in the general PA's Sunday Night News. This involves close contact with the Reps, Volunteer Coordinators, Fundraising Coordinators, and other board members to make sure the community is aware of events and needs. If enough people volunteer for this role, we hope to include website management and social media with this position.
2026-27 Status: The current Communications manager intends to move to a different role on the Board. New members are welcome, and the current manager will work closely with new members to ensure a smooth transition.
Volunteer Coordinator
Volunteer coordinators are responsible for identifying needs for parent/guardian volunteers to assist at Music Studio events, and for creating and managing the sign-ups for those opportunities. On the days of such events, Volunteer coordinators communicate with volunteers to make sure they have access to whatever they need to fulfill their duties. Our Volunteer coordinators also reach out through WhatsApp and other channels to publicize the volunteering needs.
2026-27 Status: Our current Volunteer coordinators are both moving on from LaGuardia. We are seeking new members to take on the role.
Fundraising Coordinator
Fundraising coordinators spearhead events whose goal is to benefit and raise money for the Music Studio through the PA. These include events like the Music Showcase that has been occurring semi-annually at Hill Country BBQ, and can include other independent fundraising events like popcorn sales.
2026-27 Status: Of the two current people in this role, one is graduating from LaGuardia and the other is seeking election to the Representative role. We are therefore seeking new members to fill this role.
Recording Secretary
Minutes must be written and archived for PA meetings and Executive Board meetings. Recording secretaries are responsible for attending these meetings and taking detailed notes.
2026-27 Status: One current Board member wishes to move into this role. We are seeking at least one new member.
