Give your student a head start on college admissions testing this summer! The Academic Forum is partnering once more with Test Prep Company Academic Approach to offer a 10-week SAT Prep Course, beginning with a full-length diagnostic practice test on June 27 and continuing with classes throughout July and August (see calendar for full schedule).

The course focuses on the Digital SAT, including Reading & Writing and Math strategies, while also providing a brief overview of the ACT and key differences between the two exams. Since most colleges accept either test equally, understanding both can help students determine which exam best fits their strengths.

Key Dates

* Registration Deadline: June 21

* Diagnostic Practice Test: June 27

* Classes: July 6 – August 29

* Additional Practice Test: August 1

Register today HERE.

This class is designed for Juniors or for Sophomores, especially those currently enrolled in Algebra II, interested in prepping early.

Twenty plus hours of total instruction are customized to introduce reading annotation, math problem solving skills, and grammar skills. Students meet with an instructor for each class session, access digital course materials, and take two full-length practice tests. Recordings of each Zoom session and optional homework assignments are included.

Some financial aid is available from the PA. If you need financial assistance for taking this course or have any other questions, please contact academicforum@laguardiahspa.org

Interested but unavailable this summer? When the current summer course reaches full enrollment, the Academic Forum and Academic Approach will explore offering a separate late-summer/fall weekend SAT Prep program with ACT overview sessions for additional students preparing for PSAT, SAT, and ACT exams.

College Now

College Now is a FREE college transition, dual enrollment program for New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) high school students. College Now enables NYCPS high school students to develop academic momentum toward a college degree, make informed choices about college, and learn how their education can lead to a rewarding career.

College Now is geared toward NYCPS 11th and 12th graders, with limited opportunities for 10th graders.

Application deadlines vary at each campus. LaGuardia High School has two College Now partner campuses:

  • City College of New York (CCNY) - more information HERE
  • Hunter College - more information HERE

Spring registration is now open or opening very soon at CCNY and Hunter - contact the College Now campus directly to confirm their deadline.

  • Fall semester applications are typically available late March to mid-September.
  • Spring semester applications are typically available October to early-February.
  • Summer program applications are typically available March to June.

Most programs have a first-come, first-served application process (with preference given to students from partner high schools), so it is recommended to apply early in the application process.
