Class of 2023 - Decision Day

Huge thanks to everyone who helped celebrate Senior Decision Day.  This was a joint effort by the LaG Secondary Specialist Office, Alumni + Friends and the PA (Academic Forum and Senior Rep).

These soon to be alums stopped by for photos, snacks and officially recorded their college choice in MAIA.

SENIOR PARENTS - Please encourage your student to update MAIA with their college outcomes. This is the ONLY way LaG keeps track of college outcomes and is incredibly helpful for LaG families applying to college next year and beyond.

SENIORS who update MAIA by MAY 10 will be entered into a drawing for FREE senior dues. That's right! The PA will pay for the winner's senior dues.

SENIORS keep in touch!  Sign up to receive Alumni + Friends email communications.

DOE: Vote by May 9th!

NYC's Community and Citywide Education Councils are charged with promoting student achievement, advising and commenting on education politics, and providing input to the chancellor on the Panel for Educational Policy. Voting in these elections gives you an opportunity to have a direct impact in your school community and on your child's education. Review the Candidate Profiles and vote by May 9th!

AVOID A SIX FIGURE BUDGET DEFICIT

The pandemic is the gift that keeps on giving and our PA budget reflects it.

We are on track to end our fiscal year with a deficit somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 - 6 figures.

This means that next year there will be cutbacks on many PA initiatives such as:

  • Online Grade Book
  • All School Musical and Rising Stars
  • Consultants for Auditions/CallBack
  • Teacher Professional Development
  • Performance Space Maintenance
  • Financial Aid for Graduation Expenses
  • Financial Aid for AP exams and pSAT and SAT prep
  • Spirit of LaG Awards
  • Student Clubs
  • Athletics

…and more.

NOTE Correct shipping address:  Select address for Diane Vasquez from drop down menu (we are not allowed to ship items to LaGuardia - Diane is a music studio parent who volunteered to accept delivery. THANK YOU DIANE!)

On Thursday, the Girls Softball Team lost another close game to HSMSE 9-8. Maggie Stuckey pitched a good game in a losing effort and also contributed with a big RBI hit. Aubrey Abramson, Leila Amoroso, Alexandra Brill, Sofia Kanso-Robertson, and Rylan Thompson were strong contributors on offense as well.

Donors Choose

Thank you for fully funding Mr. Abikzer's most recent project for cameras so students can complete the yearbook!

It's Teacher Appreciation Week and National Teacher Day is Tuesday, May 9th!

On May 9th, the SONIC Foundation will make sure every single donation on DonorsChoose is matched at least 50%, while funds last. That means a $20 donation will become a $30 donation, and so on.

Let's show our appreciation by helping our teachers get their projects funded and make your donations go 1.5x further while funds last!

Ms. De la Cruz needs a new computer to be able to teach and prepare lessons for students.

Please visit our DonorsChoose page and share with your family and friends.  Anyone can contribute and all donations are tax deductible.

Your contributions and/or sharing of these links is greatly appreciated!
