Annual Benefit

Hi LaGuardia Parents!

Every day, whether we hear music in our halls or see students dancing, performing, building, singing, sharing their artwork or working together in the Math or Debate Clubs, we are reminded of all that makes the LaGuardia community great. To celebrate and support our amazing LaGuardia students the Parent Association's Benefit Committee has been busily preparing for our annual Benefit that will include an amazing online and in-person auction.

Please save the date, the Benefit will take place on Tuesday June 6.  The online Auction will run from May 23rd to June 23rd.

For the Benefit and auction to be successful, we need YOUR help. There are many ways you can support the benefit; your time, your expertise and of course through donations.

And please remember that nothing is too small or too big to be donated. Whatever you are able to contribute is truly appreciated. If you want to make an anonymous donation please do. If you prefer to donate your time please join the benefit team- we would love to have you! Whatever you have to contribute is more than enough. Every donation, experience or hour of time makes a big difference. In the end we are are here to celebrate and support our amazing smart and creative students.

CLICK HERE for a sample solicitation letter that can be shared with organizations or individuals interested in donating.

If you need additional material, please reach out to us.  If you have particular connections within the arts or related industries please reach out and we can help you create a special experience that could become a great auction item. Also, if you have contacts but would rather not reach out please contact us and we will conduct the outreach.

We look forward to collaborating with you and making this the best benefit ever.

Thank you in advance for your support. The deadline for submitting items is May 19, 2023

How to Support Our Community

Donate your time - Whether you’re available once a week, once a month, or once a year, please fill out our volunteer questionnaire so that we can reach out to you when an activity suits you. This will allow you to meet and team up with other LaG families who share your interests in our school. Go to our Volunteer Interests, Skills and Resources form here.

Annual Appeal - Your generosity helps LAGHSPA minimize the impact of long-standing NYC DOE budget gaps in our children’s education. LaG teachers and administrators work diligently to make the most of their budget, and the LaG PA provides necessary additional resources. To give online today click here.

Donor's Choose - Fund classroom projects and needs as requested by our teachers.  View our teacher's projects here

Specific Initiatives -  Funding for one-time initiatives or grade specific requests such as Graduation.

Thank you for fully funding Ms. Kim's most recent project for printer ink so students can print for their final art show!

There are currently six LaGuardia projects on DonorsChoose that need help with funding.

Many of the special supplies and materials teachers need to carry out their planned curriculum cannot be purchased through the DOE system and are cost prohibitive to both students and teachers. Together, we can help fund these projects!

Let's help Mrs. McGoey give her students an immersive antiracism experience, incorporating both social science and the arts, with an award-winning antiracism scholar! (Expires March 3rd)

Let's help Ms. Riley fund her project request for enamel paint and wood panels so students can create paintings in a new style.

Let's help Mr. Abikzer fund his project request for cameras so the students can successfully complete the yearbook and continue covering events as they occur at school.

Let's help Ms. Klein get banker boxes to move old files to a new place, so the file cabinets can be removed to make more space for the students and give them a safe, comfortable learning environment.

Please visit our DonorsChoose page to view all active projects, and share with your family and friends.  Anyone can contribute and all donations are tax deductible.

Your contributions and/or sharing of these links is greatly appreciated!

We are getting ready for another exciting season of SDFs, the culminating experience of four years of drama training. We really want these shows to be spectacular and raise the bar! To make this possible, we need your support! Visit our drama-wide SDF Sponsorship Campaign and show some love for our Seniors! CAMPAIGN ENDS March 5th. This year 5 amazing productions will be featured: Rent (March 14-17), You on the Moors Now (March 28-31), Our Town (May 2-5), The Laramie Project (May 23, 25), The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later (May 24, 26). You can purchase a booster or ad in this year’s Playbill to support your student or promote your business. Sponsorship levels begin at as little as $25. Visit the Drama Studio Page for a breakdown of all sponsorship levels. And...SUPPORT THE DRAMA STUDIO BY DONATING HERE

We need parents to step up and take on some crucial volunteer roles, especially parents of Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior students! If you are looking for a fun way to get involved and meet other LaG Drama parents, please consider taking on one of the following tasks: 1) Concessions “Captain” for SDFs: We need one parent/guardian (or team) to be in charge of organizing the concessions for each production; 2) Concessions Sales: sell snacks before SDF performances and during intermission—easy and fun! PLEASE USE THIS LINK TO SIGN UP TO HELP

A great way to contribute to the Drama Studio is to run your own fundraising campaign? Want to know more? Please take this 10-second survey to let us know!

SDF cast members will be participating in a “Consent in Performance” workshop with Lauren Kiele DeLeon, an Intimacy Director and Coordinator (and adjunct instructor at Sarah Lawrence College), this week. Rent cast: Monday 2/27, 1:05-2:20 p.m. (Rm. G29); Moors cast: Monday, 2/27, 2:15-3:20 p.m. (Rm. G15); Our Town cast: Tuesday 2/28, 1:05-2:10 (Rm. G29); Laramie cast: Tuesday 2/28 2:15-3:20 p.m. (Rm. G17).

Thanks to all the parents who attended our last PODS meeting on Feb 8. We were so lucky to be joined by our guests, Halley Shefler and Ariel Strasser, from the ArtsBridge summer program! Applications for the ArtSong, Dramatic Acting, and Musical Theater 2 programs have been extended to Mar. 15. For those who missed our meeting, please watch the recording here. Passcode: N*CWMR9#

Students from the Open Mic Club will be performing again at The Bitter End on Sunday, Mar. 19th from 4-6 p.m. Come support these talented students, and the Drama Studio at the same time! Proceeds will help support the Spring Drama Festival. Don’t miss it!

Looking for a casting opportunity for your actor? The Drama Studio receives various casting notices from time to time, and we will be passing these along directly to families (often to specific classes) via email soon. Check your email for more information.
