| Three opportunities to help support activities at LaGuardia LaGuardia's Fall Open House for prospective students is Tuesday, October 20. Hundreds of families from across the 5 boroughs will be visiting to learn more about what high school at LaGuardia is like. If you love LaGuardia, we would love to have you volunteer with us! We are looking for about 10 more PA members to sign up to answer questions and share experiences. If you have already signed up, thank you, and we will see you there! This is a great opportunity to show off your LaGuardia swag, so if you got it - be sure to bring it! Want to volunteer? Sign up HERE!
The second opportunity is for those who love fundraising and helping hungry and thirsty folks get what they need: drinks and snacks! By helping us at the concession table during Open House you will help the Parents Association raise money and help prevent hangryness. I'm sure that's a real word. We need 4 - 5 volunteers to help at the concessions table, and if convincing folks that buying 2 for $5 is a much better deal than buying 1 for $3 is something you're good at, then we need you! Want to volunteer? Sign up HERE! (And make sure your phone's battery is full!)
The third opportunities are in support of the All School Musical and Rising Stars. On Saturday, October 24 some Guys and Dolls are needed to help with headshots. Go to the ASM section in this SNN to get all the details. And on Thursday, October 22, Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24 there is a call to join the Rising Stars Audition Crew. See the Rising Stars section in this SNN for all the details. Don't miss your chance to be part of the magic! |

Tonight is the deadline for registering to participate in the LaG Music Studio Student Showcase, which will be an amazing opportunity for students to demonstrate their performance chops, and to see others show off theirs. That being said ... it has come to our attention that some students have been unable to assemble the required "audition" material in time, so if your student is running late and still wants to perform, please send an e-mail to music@laguardiahspa.org. Note - while it is still an ‘audition’ for obvious reasons, it is mostly for programming purposes.
As a reminder: The showcase itself will be Sunday, November 15, 2026 at 5:00pm. All the info about the showcase, plus the signup form and audition submission is HERE! (You must be logged in to Google to use this.) |
This past Thursday, the Music Studio PA had our second PA meeting of the year, which went beyond the usual discussions, updates, and elections. On the elections front, we selected six new board members, to wit: Peter Lettre (Merch), Lisa Jaycox (Communications) and Teresa Lane, Stephen Pickering, Dan Singer, and Ben Reddy (fundraising… you'll be hearing from them!). Thank you to everyone who attended and especially all of you who put your hands up to share your time and expertise.
The second half of the meeting featured an excellent presentation by Shaun Ramsay (Principal & Director of Educational Consulting) and Tracee Duerson (Senior Educational Consultant) from ArtsBridge, an educational consulting service specifically tailored for students aiming to go to a higher-education arts program. There's no room for a summary here, since not everyone is lucky enough to have had the time to go to the presentation itself, you can watch the helpful and informative presentation HERE. (Or you can just read the transcript, over on the right.)
On another note entirely: A hearty thanks for Marc Bertucco, the latest volunteer who helped out during our Concerto series. |

DONORS CHOOSE: SUPPORT OUR TEACHERS |
Just $148 left to go to fully fund Ms. Hall's project to turn her classroom pink! Why, you ask? Over the summer, Ms. Hall attended a conference where a researcher shared a powerful insight: "You could vomit pink glitter all over your computer science room and the boys would still feel right at home." Society constantly sends subtle signals that technology belongs to boys. So let's make technology happen for all!
