Term 1, Marking Period 1 (MP1) officially ends this Friday, October 16, 2026!
Students: - Must submit all outstanding work before teachers lock in grades.
- May audit any of their missing assignments on Google Classroom and check with teachers on required assignment format guidelines.
- Should verify with faculty specific extension windows if they transferred late into a class.
Parents may view MP1 grades via the NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) portal approximately one week after the closing date.
LaGuardia’s MP1 Grading: The school year has two terms, each containing three marking periods.
- Grades are Cumulative: Grades do not reset when a new marking period begins. Instead, they accumulate continuously through the end of the entire term.
- Broad Progress Indicators: MP1 grades are early health checks for families. Rather than numerical percentages, report cards display one of three indicator letters:
P = Passing (71-100) D = In Danger of Failing (65-70) F = Failing (0-64)
Seniors (Class of 2027) participating in the College Early Application process, please note a critical exception regarding MP1 grading:
- Certain higher-education institutions may request mid-autumn academic updates.
- These grades are processed and transmitted securely by the student's Guidance Counselor.
- As this is an automated administrative pipeline, Seniors may or may not receive an explicit notification when their specific data is transferred.
Coming soon! SAT Prep Class with Academic Approach - includes ACT Overview. A 10-week SAT and ACT Prep Courses designed for Juniors or Sophomores, especially those currently enrolled in Algebra II, interested in prepping early. Click HERE for more info.
PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), an optional test for Juniors only, will be held this Saturday, October 17. Registration has concluded.
Please use your nycstudents.net account for all communication to/from LaGuardia and the College Board regarding the PSAT/NMSQT.
Students should plan to arrive at LaGuardia by 7:45am on October 17, and report to the Library with their devices by 8:00am.
Please email AP Mackey at jmackey2@schools.nyc.govfor questions regarding this test. |

DONORS CHOOSE: SUPPORT OUR TEACHERS |
Sweet! You helped yet again to fund another project. This time it was for Mr. Schinasi, one of our new teachers!
This week, we are featuring Ms. Hall, who is turning her classroom pink! Why, you ask? Over the summer, Ms. Hall attended a conference where a researcher shared a powerful insight: "You could vomit pink glitter all over your computer science room and the boys would still feel right at home." Society constantly sends subtle signals that technology belongs to boys. So let's make technology happen for all!
