SAT PREP COURSE WITH BRIEF ACT OVERVIEW Give your student a head start on college admissions testing this summer! The Academic Forum is partnering once more with Academic Approach to offer a 10-week SAT Prep Course, beginning with a full-length diagnostic practice test on June 27 and continuing with classes throughout July and August (see calendar for full schedule).
The course focuses on the Digital SAT, including Reading & Writing and Math strategies, while also providing a brief overview of the ACT and key differences between the two exams. Since most colleges accept either test equally, understanding both can help students determine which exam best fits their strengths.
Key Dates * Registration Deadline: June 21 * Diagnostic Practice Test: June 27 * Classes: July 6 – August 29 * Additional Practice Test: August 1
Register today HERE.
Interested but unavailable this summer? When the current summer course reaches full enrollment, the Academic Forum and Academic Approach will explore offering a separate late-summer/fall weekend SAT Prep program with ACT overview sessions for additional students preparing for PSAT, SAT, and ACT exams. We hope all students stay focused on preparing and taking Regents exams (see yellow sheet for specifics) and also have restful and healthy summer.

MOCK INTERVIEWS ARE HERE! As part of our Technical Theater program at LaGuardia High School, we conduct mock interviews. This is a requirement of our Career and Technical Education program. The interviews aid in our students' professional development and networking with industry stakeholders. The portfolio is used as supplementals in their college application.
The students submit their resume and portfolio beforehand and they are asked questions as if they would hire them. After the 10 minute conversation, the interviewer fills out a short form that grades the students on their professionalism and readiness for hire.
Please talk to your student and support them in completing their RESUME, PORTFOLIO and interview prep. Everything should have been handed in by this past Friday as the interviews will begin this Tuesday and will be ongoing til we finish.
Remind your students that the resumes need to be shareable to someone outside the DOE. The google doc settings is the biggest glitch that can set an interview back - or our ability to see the resume and give feedback and a grade.

FUNDRAISING FINALE! |
| The Music Studio is running a Fundraising Finale to end this year and help kick off the next with the instruments, equipment, and music that the Studio needs to support our students. Mr. Schott has given us his dream list, including servicing the harp, new risers, specialized posture chairs and other instrument repairs. Donate by texting the message "LAGVOC" or "LAGINS" to 44321 to support the Vocal goals or the Instrumental goals respectively. A competition where truly everyone wins! We’d like to reach $20,000 to ensure a comfortable start to the next school year, but any amount will go a long way.
