Follow Academic Forum on Instagram at lagpa_academicforum and on our webpage HERE to stay updated!
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, we’re exploring interest in virtual Summer SAT/ACT Prep offerings with Academic Approach. If you would like your child to participate, please email your interest, preferred test (SAT / ACT), and session weekday/evenings/weekends to academicforum@laguardiahspa.org. Your feedback will help us plan effective and accessible sessions.
A reminder: Marking Period 2 ends this Friday, April 24. Encourage your student to use this week to finish strong—submit any outstanding work, prepare for assessments, and stay focused.
Test season is upon us. Whether your child is preparing for a Regents exam, AP exam, SAT, or other assessment, now is the time to plan ahead. Have a quick check-in with your student about their study habits, test-taking strategies, and ways they manage stress. Simple practices like organized review schedules, rest, and calm breathing techniques can make a big difference. Most importantly, remind them: they are rock stars—regardless of any single test outcome. Confidence, preparation, and resilience matter just as much as the score.
Let’s support our students together as they finish the semester strong! Send any and all questions and feedback for Academic Forum to academicforum@laguardiahspa.org. |

LET'S START WITH THE BAD NEWS Monday's PODS meeting (April 20) is canceled. We know. We're disappointed too. We had virtual snacks mentally planned (it's a zoom meeting). Stay tuned for a new date, at which point we will suggest appropriate snacks to bring (anything crunchy is fine as long as you remember to stay on mute).
NOW THE GOOD NEWS, WHICH IS SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER THAN THE BAD NEWS Noises Off is nearly here! April 30 – May 2. If you've never seen Noises Off, it's a play about a theatrical production that goes spectacularly, catastrophically wrong. Our kids have been rehearsing for months to make it seem like everything is falling apart. Which, in fact, requires precise comedic timing. And a receptive audience of belly-laughers! Tickets are available now, and unlike sardines in a tin, the auditorium has a finite number of seats. In fact, only a few rows of seats remain across all four performances. Buy your tickets now, or hear about what you missed for the rest of your lives. Okay, maybe for a week or two, but still…hearing your own laughter from inside Little Flower is way better. Get your tickets HERE. LET THE SENIOR PODS BE SENIOR PODS We also need volunteers to help with front of house, back of house, and just to be in-da-house in general for Noises Off. And since this is a Senior showcase, we’d prefer if Freshman through Junior PODS staff the tables, walk the back halls, and sell some merch so our matriculating moms, dutiful dads and other graduating guardians can enjoy the show. Of course, we’ll take Senior parents too… after all, those tee-shirts aren’t gonna sell themselves. Although the designs are so fun, they just might! Sign up HERE. FINALLY: WE NEED YOU! SPECIFICALLY, FUTURE YOU We're re-building the Drama Board for 2026–27, and we have oodles of exciting and satisfying open positions. Lots. Scads. Enough that we're not going to list them all here because reading Sunday Night News is about momentum, and we don't want to lose it. The point is: if you care about our Studio (let’s face it, you do - you're reading a newsletter, aren’t you?!) please reach out. |
Dear Dance Families,
It has been a jam-packed week! Our juniors participated in an exciting class with Endalyn Taylor from UNSCA and then heard from the fabulous and inspiring Marcella Guarino from Knicks City Dancers. Our dancers also continue to benefit from your generosity in supporting the Guest Artists Series! The seniors had an amazing class with Jason Rodriguez (New Way Vogue), and this week the remaining grades will work with him.
Exposure to new forms of dance and career exploration has always been an important goal of the LaGuardia dance department and we are thrilled at the myriad of experiences offered to our dancers! Please join us to raise a glass to another wonderful year at LaGuardia, and to plan for next year.
UPCOMING EVENTS May 6: Parent and Guardian get-together in the evening -- location and exact time TBD May 12: Dance PA Meeting and Elections in the evening over zoom - exact time TBD
DANCE GRADUATION CONCERT The Dance Graduation Concert is right around the corner, and we could not be more excited! Here's what we need from you: - Buy tickets and share ticket information with people in your network. Let's fill that theater! Tickets will go on sale for senior families on April 25 and will be available broadly from the LaG Box Office beginning May 1.
- Please consider sponsoring a piece. Presenting a concert of this caliber comes with real costs, and many pieces are still missing sponsorships with time running out. If the full investment is not possible, we are absolutely open to families co-sponsoring a piece together. We also encourage you to share this with friends, family, and businesses who might want to support our young artists.
9th grade families: This will be your children in three short years! Every penny donated helps us ensure this concert is funded adequately this year, and in the years to follow.
10th and 11th grade families: Your dancers are inching closer to this exciting moment. Ask them what piece they are most excited to watch! And consider supporting that piece as a sponsor.
12th grade families: This is it! Your last chance to support and watch your children dance at LaGuardia. Pretty please, if you are able to sponsor, or co-sponsor a piece, email us and let us know.
With gratitude,
Katie & Barbette |
