IMPORTANT: This Friday, March 6, marks the end of the marking period. All outstanding assignments must be turned in by this date.

In-School P/SAT Testing

LaGuardia will proctor these exams during the school day on March 17. Students are automatically registered at no cost. See this week’s "Yellow Sheet" for logistics.

 - Sophomores: Take the PSAT on March 17 and again in the fall.

 - Juniors: Take the SAT on March 17. Afterwards, they may elect to retake the SAT or take the ACT.

Additional SAT & ACT 2026 Testing Dates

SAT vs. ACT

 - SAT: Adaptive (second module changes based on student performance on the first module); logic-heavy and shorter reading passages.

- ACT: Faster-paced and curriculum-based; includes an optional Science section.

For many LaGuardia students, the audition or portfolio is the centerpiece of their post-secondary admissions.

 * Test-Optional/Blind: Many schools prioritize talent and GPA over scores.

 * Portfolio-First: Some conservatories may not require these tests for admission at all.

Verify specific requirements for each college/university program as their policies may evolve.

ADS

Place your ads in the first ever Operetta Playbill

A group of parent volunteers has generously offered to design and produce a Playbill for the upcoming Operetta. To offset the cost of printing, quarter-page and full-page ads are available for $50 and $250 respectively. Congratulate a performer or crew member, or advertise your small business! Please email music@laguardiahspa.org if you are interested or read more HERE. Due to our short production schedule, we ask that you contact us to confirm your ad ASAP. The design team is available to help write or design your ad, but all content must be submitted by Wednesday, March 4.

...And buy your tickets to the show!

Tickets for the Operetta, the Gershwin classic Of Thee I Sing, are available now for purchase HERE. THE SDF PLAYBILL WON'T PRINT ITSELF!

The deadline to purchase a Playbill ad for the Spring Drama Festival is March 5. This week. As in, very soon. As in, now would be a great time to act. (See what we did there.) Let’s break down this script by class, shall we? We shall.

Senior PODS: Your child is about to graduate from the best acting conservatory on the planet (we said what we said). The least you can do is show them how proud you are with a congratulatory Playbill ad. Think of it as your official, ink-on-paper, forever-in-the-program declaration that you raised that child, and you’re not even a little ashamed to say it. Don't let your moment exit stage left. Purchase your ad HERE!

Junior PODS (Class of 2027): One year from now, you'll be the Senior PODS desperately hoping the underclassmen show up for your kids the way you're about to show up for theirs. Funny how that works. Text LAGSDF27 to 44321 or click HERE to contribute. If your class hits $2,500, every contributing family gets their name in a full-page Class of 2027 ad. Karma is real. So is the March 5 deadline.

Sophomore PODS (Class of 2028): Your class already hit the magic $2,500 mark, and frankly we're still a little emotional about it. But if your family's name isn't on that page yet, you have until March 5 to remedy that oversight. Text LAGSDF28 to 44321 or click HERE. Your class set the bar. Now go stand under it with your name on it.

Freshman PODS (Class of 2029): Welcome to your first SDF. Here's how it works: you text LAGSDF29 to 44321 or click HERE, your class collectively hits $2,500, and 2029 PODS get a full-page Playbill ad with every contributing family's name. The Class of 2028 did it. The gauntlet has been laid down. It's right there for you to pick it up.

PODS MEETING: TOMORROW NIGHT.

We'll Keep It Short. Ish.

Join us tomorrow, March 2 at 7:30pm for our monthly PODS meeting. It's on Zoom, which means no traffic, no parking, and no one will know what you're wearing.

We consider that a feature.

Dear Dance Families,

We hope your students enjoyed the West African workshop led by the amazing Karisma Jay as part of our Guest Artist program, and the 10th grade field trip to Lincoln Center! It's been a busy and exciting week!

Thank you to the families who continue to support our dancers and dance program! The Graduation Dance Concert is the culminating event for our seniors and they are so excited to perform for all of you at the end of May. Please consider sponsoring a dance! This is the dance department's most important fundraiser and we need your help! You can learn more about how to support HERE. Please participate if you are able, and share this information with friends, families and businesses who might be interested in supporting our young artists and their choreographers.
