Parent Teacher Conferences will be held remotely, and families schedule specific appointments with teachers.  We have allowed teachers to stagger their schedules to make scheduling appointments easier for families.  If there are no appointments with a teacher available, please reach out to the teacher and set up an appointment for the following week. Click HERE to schedule an appointment.

Academic Approach* is offering a virtual ACT or SAT Prep Course to LaGuardia students in preparation for 2024 tests . The courses are aimed at helping  students improve  their score growth potential by reviewing key skills sets in reading, writing, math, and science, and their application on the college entrance exams. The course, which starts in January, includes 24-hours of instruction, 2 full-length practice tests, and additional study materials. The cost of the course is greatly reduced for LaG students at $400. For more information, including schedule and registration details, click HERE.

 Please contact the Academic Forum for financial support if necessary - available one time only to Juniors and Seniors. 

Academic Approach* is an also offering the following:

  • Complimentary practice tests for both the SAT and ACT to assess your students’ strengths and weaknesses. 
  • Private one-on-one tutoring services are available for both SAT and ACT at a 10% discounted rate for LaGuardia families.                                           

FOR JUNIORS WHO TOOK THE RECENT PSAT TESTYour scores will post on either November 6th or 16th. Compass Education* founder, Adam Ingersoll, is hosting strategy sessions that correspond to each release date (11/8 & 11/16, but feel free to join either event). Click HERE to register. Adam will help interpret your results and craft a smart path forward. He’ll share the latest insights and updated forecasts as the role of testing steadily regains significance in competitive contexts. You will learn how to decipher nuanced test-optional guidelines and make the most advantageous testing-related decisions for your particular college admission goals.

FOR SOPHOMORES WHO WANTED TO TAKE THE RECENT PSAT TEST:  The Academic Forum will be setting up a trial test in the spring   through Compass Education*.  Stay tuned for further information!

What an amazing week! 

Thanks to your generosity, 5 classroom projects were funded last week:

  • Mr. Domench is receiving wire and wire cutters to help students build sculpture armatures
  • Mr. Domench is also receiving hot glue guns and glue sticks to help students build cardboard animal sculptures
  • Ms. Healy is receiving sheet music and scores from classics and current Broadway hits to expand the library repertoire
  • Ms. Kim is receiving large cardstock and printer ink to help students make posters and graphic design projects
  • Mr. Rahman is receiving a multipurpose laptop with accessories to be used as an interactive tool in the classroom

Together, we can ensure our teachers receive the resources needed to make the classroom a thriving and robust place to learn. Call out for POTS volunteers:  We're looking for parents/grandparents/guardians to help sell Tech Studio Merchandise at school next Thursday, November 9th, 1:00- 5:30pm. Teens Open Studio at The Whitney A free art-making program on select Fridays: 11/3, 11/10, 12/1, 12/8. Work with contemporary artists to create and learn new techniques with art projects inspired by The Whitney’s exhibitions and collection.
