Students Making It Happen!
Climate Week

Thank you to Senior, Lake Wiesmayr and the Climate Action Club for creating and hosting a series of events acknowledging CLIMATE WEEK at LaG. The effort included coordination of many initiatives and over 17 volunteers.

Events included classroom activities and fundraising activities that included a bake sale; clothing swap and drive; sign up station for clubs and volunteering; a suggestion box for how Laguardia can become more sustainable; advertising for the open discussion about climate change and mental health next Monday; and an informational table about single-use plastics

In total, they raised $432.97 - $303 donated to the senior fund and $130 to the Sierra Club Foundation.

Scholastic Awards

273 Winners Across Every Category!

Established in 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards bring the work of young people to regional and national audiences. Former recipients include artists Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, Kay WalkingStick, and John Baldessari and writers Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, and Joyce Carol Oates. It's no surprise that LaG student artists and writers performed exceptionally well in the NYC Region of the Scholastic Art Awards–the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. In total, LaG students received 273 Scholastic Art Awards across every category!

Donors Choose

Thank you for fully funding Ms. Laricchia's most recent project for a new laptop! Let's keep the momentum going by helping to fund the following teachers' projects:

Ms. Riley needs enamel paint and wood panels, which will enable students to create paintings in a new style.

Mr. Abikzer needs cameras so the students can successfully complete the yearbook and continue covering events as they occur at school.

Ms. Klein needs banker boxes to move old files to a new place, so the file cabinets can be removed to make more space for the students and give them a safe, comfortable learning environment.

Mx. Shea needs woodworking tools and supplies to give her students the opportunity to learn and develop woodworking skills with a focus on lathe projects. (Be an early supporter!)

Ms. De la Cruz needs a new computer to be able to teach and prepare lessons for students. (Never before funded; be an early supporter!)

Please visit our DonorsChoose page and share with your family and friends.  Anyone can contribute and all donations are tax deductible.

Your contributions and/or sharing of these links is greatly appreciated!

Folks, the chances of winning these raffles are ridiculously high! And it’s a great way to support the Spring Drama Festival. Our next drawing will be for tickets to the MTV Video Music Awards, and The Daily Show. Visit our studio page for more information and enter today!

THANKS TO ALL WHO LENT A HELPING HAND: VOLUNTEERS TO WORK THE SDFs STILL NEEDED

Thank you so much to the amazing Drama parents who stepped up and helped out with selling concessions and merchandise at performances, as well as bringing snacks and meals to our students during "blackout day" rehearsals. As we look forward to the next phase of SDFs in May we still need you to volunteer to take on some cubical roles, especially parents of Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior students! There are still three more productions this spring, and if you are looking for a fun way to get involved and meet other LaG Drama parents, please consider taking on one of the following tasks: 1) Concessions “Captain” for SDFs: We need one parent/guardian (or team) to be in charge of organizing the concessions for each production; 2) Concessions Sales: sell snacks before SDF performances and during intermission—easy and fun; 3) Deliver snacks to the actors on rehearsal “blackout” days...
