IMPORTANT ELECTION REMINDER

OPEN POSITIONS FOR

2022-2023 LAGUARDIA HIGH SCHOOL
PARENTS ASSOCIATION (LAGHSPA)

EXECUTIVE BOARD (EB)

AND

SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM (SLT)

We will hold elections during our General PA meeting on Wednesday, September 28 at 7 pm via Zoom (please register here).

This will be a virtual expedited election, which means that all nominations will be taken from the floor on the night of the election, not in advance. After we close the nomination floor that evening, candidates will be given the opportunity to make brief statements.

Because this will be a virtual expedited election and because nominations will be taken from the floor, there is no Nominating Committee to solicit nominations before the virtual election. Instead, we have a group of parents who volunteered to manage the virtual expedited election process.

If you would like to run for any of the open EB or SLT positions, we encourage you to nominate yourself or nominate someone during Wednesday's election.

REMINDERS
To help us conduct our elections as quickly and as efficiently as possible, please take note of the following:

All parents/guardians with currently-enrolled LaGuardia students may vote in the LAGHSPA Virtual Expedited Elections.

REGISTER IN ADVANCE
You must register in advance for this meeting by clickingHERE.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. The Zoom room will open at 6:30 pm to allow time for voters to rename themselves with their codes.

VERIFICATION CODES
To help ensure a fair election, each voter will need a code to verify their status as a parent/guardian of a current LaGuardia student. Up to two votes are allowed per child per ballot during each election.

Your verification code is the last six digits of your child's OSIS number followed by "A" for one parent/guardian and "B" for the second parent/guardian, if applicable.

Example: If your child’s OSIS # is 123456789, your code would be 456789A; and if your child has a second parent/guardian, their code would be 456789B.

NON-ELECTED ROLES

Please also let us know if you can help in these non-elected positions:

Parent Coordinator Search Committee
We need parent/guardian volunteers to participate in a new committee that will help interview and hire a new parent coordinator.

We encourage you to get involved. Bring your willingness to help. We can all help each other and accomplish great things together in support of our kids. So, what are you waiting for?

Thank you for your time and interest. We look forward to working with you!

SPONSORS NEEDED!

If you know a donor who would like to help support Rising Stars, please reach out as soon as possible to risingstars@laguardiahspa.org.

We're seeking funds to cover the cost of tickets for our RS2021 lead student team to attend the NY Emmy Award ceremony so there is a student presence to receive the award in the event that they win their category!

Unfortunately, LAGHSPA can only allocate funds to current LaGuardia student initiatives.

Please help us to find a sponsor. We were advised to purchase tickets by THIS FRIDAY, 9/30.

THANK YOU!

NY Emmy® Award Nomination!

Rising Stars 2021:

Behind the Mask

has been nominated for a NY Emmy® Award for "Long Form Content" (longer than 10 minutes) under the “Teen 13-19” category.

What a testament to the incredible cast and crew who persevered during COVID-19 to keep this LaGuardia HS tradition alive! Special thanks to all families, alumni and extended community members who supported us by tuning in and spreading the word!

Please continue to watch and share! Rising Stars was the most-watched video on The WNET Group's AllArts.org platform during 2021. Let's keep our place among the best and brightest featured on AllArts for a second year in a row!!

Thank you for celebrating LaGuardia!
