Description
This is an opportunity to meet with a representative and learn more about the school they work for. It is a wonderful way to gain insight about the college or university without needing to travel and can be a sign of demonstrated interest (for schools that use that as a factor in their process). Topics discussed normally include: campus and academic information, financial aid, and how to apply. You must RSVP in Maia at least 2 days prior to the visit in order to attend. Visits take place in the Recital Hall, Room 205.
It is not mandatory to attend these visits, but is encouraged especially for your top 3-5 schools. If you have a class at the same time the visit is being offered, you are still fully responsible for submitting work on time and making up any work that you miss. You must give your teacher advanced notice that you will be at the visit and if the teacher does not give you permission to attend, you should go to class and not the visit. You can always email the representative to explain that you couldn't miss instruction and they will understand (if not be impressed!). If you notice that you have repeated visits during the same class, reflect on which one or two schools take priority and only attend those. If you have a quiz or test, prioritize the assessment and follow up with the rep after. Your senior grades are important, so we would never want a visit to be significantly disruptive to your education. The same goes for your health. If you are sick and/or Covid positive on the day of a visit, stay home and focus on resting so you can return to the building when you are well. Dancers may not miss their dance block.
If you have a free period or a visit occurs during your lunch, this could be a productive use of your time to learn more about schools that you may not be familiar with. Representatives are eager to speak with our community and are happy to give you information about their school.
