LOOKING FORWARD TO SUMMER . . .
The LaGuardia High School building physically closes for the summer. Standard building operations are paused. For urgent administrative or registration questions during the break, contact Parent Coordinator Dr. Tracy Ballas via email at tballas@schools.nyc.gov.
Academic Summer School & August Regents
LaGuardia does not host an internal summer school program. If your student requires academic credit recovery, the LaGuardia Guidance Department assigns placements at open host high school sites within District 3 or your home borough. Counselors notify affected families directly via mid-June mailings.
Students completing August walk-in Regents exams can test at any open NYC public summer school site by presenting their 9-digit NYC OSIS student ID number and a valid photo ID.
Working Papers & Summer Meals
Working papers cannot be processed at LaGuardia during the closure. Students can get working papers signed at any active public high school summer site across the city.
Open host schools also provide free breakfast and lunch to youth 18 and under through the city-wide summer food program.
MaiaLearning Tasks for Rising Seniors
Rising seniors must utilize the summer to complete mandatory college planning benchmarks on the portal. Students must finalize their initial "Universities I'm Applying To" list and draft the Common Application personal statement. Families should review the comprehensive LaG! College Handbook for account linking instructions, required CEEB codes, and transcript transmission timelines utilized by the Post Secondary Planning Office.
SAT Prep - Summer
The Academic Forum is partnering once more with Academic Approach to offer a summer 10-week SAT Prep Course. The course focuses on the Digital SAT and a brief overview of the ACT. Register today HERE.

Juniors will take PSAT/NMSQT in the Fall. If they have completed both Geometry and Algebra II they will also have enough math to take one of the fall SAT tests if they choose to sign up through the College Board. LaG typically administers the PSAT for Sophomores and SAT for Juniors in the Spring.
