New Date for June Meeting Please mark your calendars. Our last PA meeting of the year, and at which we will approve next year's budget, will now take place on June 16 at 6:00pm. |
Just one more month to go. Will you please share with friends and family and neighbors? We are looking to support our students' clubs for next year. That means raising $80,000, and we've only raised just under $13,000. Please help us reach this goal so next year's clubs can operate without issue.

The Academic Forum would like to thank the entire LaG community for your engagement and partnership this year. Our efforts included launching the AF Instagram profile, committing to consistent SNN communications, securing discounted SAT/ACT prep, crowdsourcing tutoring resources on our new AF webpage, working to strengthen LaG’s academic webpages and finally formalizing the National Honor Society. We were honored to help strengthen the academic experience for all students and look forward to working with the incoming Academic Forum members - Julie Carey and Lynn Hahn.
Join us one final time this year for Tips from Seniors and Their Parents on June 15 at 7:00pm via Zoom. Join Zoom Meeting HERE. Meeting ID: 882 5881 1798 Passcode: 812094
SAT PREP COURSE WITH BRIEF ACT OVERVIEW Give your student a head start on college admissions testing this summer! The Academic Forum is partnering once more with Academic Approach to offer a 10-week SAT Prep Course, beginning with a full-length diagnostic practice test on June 27 and continuing with classes throughout July and August (see calendar for full schedule).
The course focuses on the Digital SAT, including Reading & Writing and Math strategies, while also providing a brief overview of the ACT and key differences between the two exams. Since most colleges accept either test equally, understanding both can help students determine which exam best fits their strengths. Key Dates * Registration Deadline: June 21 * Diagnostic Practice Test: June 27 * Classes: July 6 – August 29 * Additional Practice Test: August 1 Register today HERE.
Interested but unavailable this summer? When the current summer course reaches full enrollment, the Academic Forum and Academic Approach will explore offering a separate late-summer/fall weekend SAT Prep program with ACT overview sessions for additional students preparing for PSAT, SAT, and ACT exams. |

CURTAINS! ANOTHER SDF TAKES A FINAL BOW Bravo to the cast and crew of Macbeth! You took the Scottish play, the cursed one, the one nobody's supposed to say the name of, and you made it sing – without actually singing of course. And to every senior who crossed the Little Flower stage this year: you screwed your courage to the sticking place. Job well done doesn't cover it, but we're a newsletter, not a sonnet, so it'll have to do.
And to the volunteers: you know who you are, because you're the ones who were there. We say it every time because it's true every time: we cannot do this without you. We literally cannot. We've checked. Nothing happens.
A few things before the lights come up again next year…

WE NEED A HAND (OR TWO OR FOUR OR EIGHT) - Drama Class of 2027 Reps We're looking for 2–4 parent volunteers to help make next year a great one for our seniors. It's a real job and a deeply rewarding one, and we promise you'll be in good company. If that's you — and something tells us it might be — email drama@laguardiahspa.org. We'll take it from there. |
Dear Dance Families,
Wow! Just wow! The Graduation Dance Performances were absolutely outstanding... the sets, the costumes, the lighting, the choreography... And our dancers! It was so exciting to see their growth and maturity as artists. The stage shone with talent, and heart and artistry. And we all felt Maleek's absence, but also the indelible mark he left on this class and on LaGuardia.
There is not a THANK YOU big enough for the team of people who brought this masterpiece together. Our immense gratitude goes out to the teachers, administrators, choreographers, technical theater crew, student ushers, security and janitorial staff, and everyone else from LaGuardia who made this magic happen. A huge thank you also to the parent teams who supported our dancers -- keeping them nourished, helping with merch, and all the millions of other things parents and guardians did behind the scenes to get their dancers onto the stage.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Now rest :)
And once we've all caught our breath, don't forget to come support our juniors on June 11 in the Little Flower Theater! Junior Dance Projects is an exciting glimpse into the choreographic skills of our dancers and is a can't miss!
With gratitude, Katie & Barbette |
