SUBJECT: SNN 3/22, Sign up to Volunteer at Admitted Student Day!

Issue 28, March 22, 2026

Dear community,

Please help us share how amazing our school is, so the admitted students and their families can make what we know is the best decision: choose LaGuardia!

With five studios and our general Parents Association in need of representation, we need a LOT more volunteers than the approximately 75 we have at the moment. Please sign up HERE and let us know you are flexible to be assigned to represent your studio or our general PA. We will have lots of duties and stations to cover.

A thousand thanks in advance!

LaG Parents Association

Congrats!

In case you missed this in the Yellow Sheet, the LaGuardia Jazz Orchestra earned four Outstanding Soloist Awards at the Essentially Ellington New York City Regional Festival, held last week. The following students were recognized for their exceptional artistry:

  • Guillermo Pena-Nissenblatt, Tenor Saxophone
  • Dillon Cato, Trumpet
  • Jojo Roses, Guitar
  • Rahm Benari, Drums

Essentially Ellington, presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center, is among the most respected jazz education competitions in the United States. Earning four individual honors is a remarkable distinction and a testament to the hard work of our students under the direction of Mr. Blancq. Please join us in congratulating the entire Jazz Orchestra on this outstanding achievement.

Why Your Survey Matters:

Direct Impact: Your responses directly influence how we allocate resources, design academic programs, and create support services for your child.

Critical Decision-Making: School leaders use this data to reflect on your feedback and make important decisions about programming that affects your child's daily experience.

Every Voice Counts: Without your input, we lack the full picture of what our school community needs.

How to Complete the Survey (Deadline is April 1)

  1. Visit NYCSchoolSurvey.org.
  2. Choose a preferred language.
  3. Enter the correct access code: lowercase "f" followed by your child's 9-digit Student ID (OSIS) number (example: f123456789). You can access your child's 9-digit OSIS number online through Jupiter or your New York City Schools Account (NYCSA). It is vital to put the "f" before the OSIS number to fill out the survey, without the correct access code, you will be incorrectly filling out the form.
  4. Complete and submit the survey.

AP FINALS TEST PREP!

The Academic Forum has arranged to offer LaGuardia students 10% off any Compass AP group course review using the code ACADEMICFORUM

The usual price is $195 per subject for four weekly 90-minute online workshops, starting April 11 or 12. The registration deadline is April 6. For an additional fee, Compass offers AP practice exams. Strong results on AP tests result in greater acceptance rates to college and often eliminate the need to take certain course requirements at certain colleges.

URINETOWN IS NUMBER ONE!

Urinetown is our first SDF of the year, and it’s almost COMPLETELY sold out already. March 26–28. Get tickets HERE while they last! Another great way to be around the show, tickets or not… is to help out in the lobby! We still need volunteers. You can peruse the available tasks and times HERE.

A huge thank you to parents for your generous contributions to the Playbill ads! Together, we raised over $9000. Bravo! These contributions help make our productions nothing short of jaw-dropping in quality. That, and the kids. The kids do a lot too.

SHARE THE FEELS

That joy you felt when you found out you were becoming a PODS? It’s time to pay it back. Or forward. We’re not sure which way it goes, but it’s good to “pay it” in any direction by volunteering! Accepted Students Day is almost here, but we still need a few more PODS to raise their hands and work the Drama merch table, answer questions, and be a general guiding light to the new faces gracing our school. Sign up HERE.

MEET & GREET FROM ANY SEAT

Our March PODS meeting is set for Monday, March 30 at 7:30pm. And since it’s on zoom, you can take the meeting from anywhere – your couch, your bed, a beach, a bowling alley. All you really need is this link right HERE!

dance@laguardiahspa.org

Dear Dance families,

We hope that you enjoyed your conferences with our amazing dance teachers! We are so grateful and lucky to have such a strong team of educators working with our dancers.

We have another exciting week ahead for our dancers starting with guest artist Gregory Lau, who will be joining us for a contemporary dance residency. Then, in addition to welcoming admitted students on Tuesday, our Junior Dance Ensemble will be performing at the Open House! Thank you to the volunteers who have stepped up to welcome the new families and answer questions. And on Friday, the entire dance department will be heading over to Juilliard to see Spring DancesThank you to the chaperones who volunteered to accompany our dancers on this fun field trip.

What a lot to be grateful for! And speaking of gratitude, we hope that you will join us in celebrating our seniors and choreographers who are hard at work preparing pieces for the graduation dance concert. Now that Spring has sprung we need to get serious, however, about sponsorships

9th grade families: This will be your children in three short years! Every penny donated helps us ensure this concert is funded adequately this year, and in the years to follow.

10th and 11th grade families: Your dancers are inching closer to this exciting moment. Ask them what piece they are most excited to watch! And consider supporting that piece as a sponsor.

12th grade families: This is it! Your last chance to support and watch your children dance at LaGuardia. Pretty please, if you are able to sponsor, or co-sponsor a piece, email us and let us know. Many of the pieces are still without a sponsor.

You can learn more about how to support HERE. Please participate if you are able, and share out this information with friends, families and businesses who might be interested in supporting our young artists.

Warmly,

Katie & Barbette

MARCH 24 – ACCEPTED STUDENT OPEN HOUSE

LaGuardia’s Accepted Student Open House is scheduled for March 24, and the Art Studio is still looking for a few more volunteers to help with either the merch sale (sign up HERE) or to help represent the Art Studio beyond the merch table (sign up HERE and specify “Art”). Thank you to those who have already signed up! We’re excited to see you there!

TIME FLIES WHEN YOU’RE HAVING FUN!

The school year is flying by, and we (both Cindy and Kristin!) are parents of seniors! We love our jobs as Art Co-Reps, but it’s only ours for a few more months. All that to say, if you’re thinking about running for Art Co-Rep next year, this is a GREAT time to let us know! We’d love to share our knowledge with the next Co-Reps to help create a smooth transition. If you’re thinking about it and want to learn more, please use let us know HERE. We look forward to hearing from you!

Our wonderful Art PA Webmaster Yun Joo Shin also has a student graduating, so the Art PA will need a volunteer for that key role next year. If that’s of interest, please let us know HERE in the questions/comments field.

UPCOMING ART SHOWS:

April 17 – Senior Art Show #2

May 8 – Senior Art Show #3

June 5 – Semi-Annual Art Show

THE ART STUDIO STILL NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT

The LaGuardia Art Studio relies heavily on the support of our parents and guardians to help fund essential art supplies and materials for our students. If you have not already donated for the 2025-2026 school year, now is a perfect time! Donations of any size are greatly appreciated, and every contribution helps! Please click HERE to donate.

Please feel free to email us anytime at: art@laguardiahspa.org. We'd love to hear from you!

New York Road Runners' approach provides young women with the tools and support needed to meet their self-care and physical activity goals, building their confidence and motivation to stay active for life.
