ACADEMIC FORUM

academicforum@laguardiahspa.org

Please join the Academic Forum on Tuesday, January 13 at 7:30pm for a conversation with Florence Lehr, founder of ARTriculate, a college consulting service for creative students. Florence will discuss the role that academics play in the college application process for students interested in pursuing creative majors. Topics will include high school course selection (including a discussion of how many and which math courses are needed), the importance of standardized tests, and how these considerations differ if a student is primarily interested in applying to art schools/conservatories, art-related programs at larger universities, or an art major at smaller colleges.

Join Zoom meeting HERE.

If you're unable to join, the ARTriculate website contains a lot of great information HERE. More about Florence: she was recently an expert source for the US News and World Report discussion of The Differences Between BA and BFA Degrees HERE and in her interview with Tungsten Prep, a tutoring company who has worked with a number of creative students, she discusses Finding the College Path that Unlocks Your Creative Spirit HERE.

We wish the entire LaG community a restful break, peaceful holidays and a happy new year!

“When I feel confident, I feel really beautiful.”

– Lola Tung

Congrats to all the students who participated in our two Drama fundraiser events this weekend, and thank you to everyone who helped make these events happen. We are so grateful to all who attended, tuned in, bid, donated, volunteered, or supported in any way. Take a look at some photos of the Cabaret event, beautifully captured by our very own student Sophie Sherman!

We are thankful for our Drama studio families who have already supported the program this year with their generous time, talents, and resources. Last week, we were happy to host a festive holiday lunch for the Drama and Dance faculty as a thank-you for their hard work and dedication to our students. Celebrating and supporting our teachers is one of the many meaningful things PODS is able to do thanks to the generosity of our Drama studio community. We are also grateful to our amazing Dance partners for their collaboration on this luncheon.

If you would like to help us continue supporting our teachers and students, please consider a year-end donation! We make it easy by using this link HERE. A monthly donation schedule is also available.

Wishing everyone Happy Holidays!

Dear Dance Families,

As 2025 winds to a close we have so much to be grateful for, and so much to look forward to for 2026!

Together with the drama department our amazing hospitality team hosted a holiday lunch for dance and drama teachers and administrators to thank them for everything they do every day for our children. A huge thank you to the parents who put together the event -- it was beautiful and festive and much appreciated!

January 2026 will be an exciting month as our seniors will be performing in their winter showcase on January 15 and 16. Tickets will go on sale on January 6 and this is a CAN'T miss opportunity to watch our talented dancers do what they love! We will also be selling NEW (and reissued) gear.

Please show the dance department some love before year end. Every donation you make goes to support the magic happening in the studios. Every dollar counts. Please donate HERE now!

Warmly,

Katie and Barbette
