SUBJECT: SNN 11/9, Jupiter for PT Conferences, WSS Volunteering, and more!

Issue 11, November 9, 2025
Using Jupiter for PT Conferences

Dear LaGuardia Families,

Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs) are rapidly approaching! Similar to last Spring, LaGuardia's JupiterGrades platform will be used this Fall 2025 Term for you to sign up for meetings with teachers.

On Friday, November 14th by 3:35pm all signups should be released.

Throughout September and October, login links were sent out for any parent/guardian who had not logged in to JupiterGrades since July 2025. Another login email link for parents/guardians who still have not accessed JupiterGrades so far this school year was sent out Friday afternoon at 4:00pm. To find it, you will want to check your Spam/Junk folder, as well, for an email from noreply@jupitered.com

Please know that for 9th graders, you would have received a login link unless your prior school used JupiterGrades. If you are a parent/guardian of a 9th grader who had JupiterGrades access at another school, please read on.

FAQs

What if I cannot find any email/message, and I cannot log in to JupiterGrades?

If you have not received JupiterGrade information this year and do not see the message from Thursday, it may be that your email information needs to be changed. To update the email information the school has on your JupiterGrades Account, please take the following steps:

  1. Log in to your NYCSA account.
  2. After logging on to NYCSA, if your email is incorrect, change it. You may also change your contact phone number as well if it needs to be updated.

    • Any other contact information (name, home address, emergency contact) will need to be changed with Pupil Accounting.

  3. If you and your student need access to JupiterGrades after having had it at a prior school, you may complete the next three steps.

  4. Email Erik Branman, Teacher: Social Studies at ebranman@schools.nyc.govfrom your corrected contact email address you changed on NYSCA

  5. Please use the following format:

Subject: Jupiter Contact Email Update [Student Name] [Student OSIS]

In the body of the email provide:

    • the name of your student

    • your name

    • your full contact information [Name, Address, Phone] as it appears on NYSCA.

Your contact email will be corrected to match that on your NYSCA account as quickly as possible. When it is updated, I will send you login information directly. I will be updating your information as quickly as I can, but that it may take a day for me to complete it.

Please do not wait until the day PTC times are released (Friday, November 14th) to reach out to meI cannot guarantee an update Friday after 12 noon.

Is there anything else I need to know about scheduling a PTC with my student's teachers?

Three important things with PTC meetings and JupiterGrades:

  1. Only parents/guardians of record with a NYSCA may access JupiterGrades to schedule a PTC.

  2. Only one parent/guardian on a student's account may schedule a PTC.

  3. When the PTC signups are taken live, you will receive a message on JupiterGrades. The links to teacher signups for PTCs can be found on your CALENDAR or in your MESSAGES, both - accessible from the left side of your window.

  4. An additional message with a scheduling link will be sent to your personal email - under two conditions:

    • You have registered for email and/or text notifications under SETTINGS on your JupiterGrades account.

    • When student's teachers send an announcement message when taking their PTC signs ups live.

Because it is always possible that a personal email message could be missed, it's highly suggested you log on to JupiterGrades to check for sign up slots.

IMPORTANTIf you do not see any available PTC time slots after logging in, it may be that all available times have been filled. You should reach out to your student's teacher for more information.

All the best,

Erik K. Branman

academicforum@laguardiahspa.org

At LaGuardia - the top NYC and NYS arts high school and one of the top public arts high schools in the nation - creativity meets academic rigor. Our students don’t just perform and create; they excel across every subject, preparing for college and beyond with passion and purpose.

The LaGuardia Parent Association (PA) plays a vital role in making that success possible. Your donations to the PA directly support the Academic Forum's mission and the entire school community through:

  • Academic Development: Funding for AP exams, SAT/ACT prep, tutoring, and academic competitions.
  • Department Resources: Updated lab equipment, classroom technology, and teaching materials across English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and World Languages.
  • Student Support: Workshops and initiatives that build self-efficacy, resilience, stress management, and time management skills - empowering students to balance demanding arts and academic schedules.
  • Focused Enrichment: Connecting students with NYC Public Schools programs, academic clubs, language immersion trips, and providing guidance on outside academic resources and career opportunities.
  • Teacher Grants: Mini-grants for innovative classroom projects and curriculum enhancements.

Your generosity fuels both the arts and the academics that make LaGuardia extraordinary. Every contribution helps our students reach higher - in the studio, on stage, and in the classroom.

Donate today HERE and be part of our students’ success.

Dear Dance families,

We hope your dancers enjoyed their Guest Artist experience this week -- the remarkable Stephanie Troyak joined our students to teach the work of groundbreaking choreographer Pina Bausch.

And speaking of amazing opportunities...

Please help us to continue offering the Guest Artist Series for the 2025-2026 school year! The much-loved Guest Artist Series brings in professional teachers from the field and exposes all dance majors, grades 9-12, to a variety of dance forms. However, due to budget constraints, the Guest Artist Series is currently on hold.

We heard from parents - you and your students don't want this to happen! Therefore, 100% of donations to the Dance PA for the remainder of November will go directly to maintaining the Guest Artist program. A donation of $250 covers one guest artist for one grade. If we raise $8,000 by November 30, we can restore the program in full.

Click below to see the amazing artists brought in so far this year. We don't want our students to miss out on the remaining guest artist experiences so please donate HERE now!

Guest Artist Series 2025-26

This fall has brought so many wonderful opportunities for our dancers, from Paul Taylor Dance Company to Hell's Kitchen and the fun just continues! Some of our dancers will be performing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and all of our 9th graders will be going to see NYCB's Nutcracker on December 9.

And soon you will have a chance to see where all the magic happens! Dance observation week is from December 8-12 - exact dates and times coming soon. NEW gear will be sold as well!

Finally, please save the date for our rescheduled dance parent and guardian get-together.
