Juniors who took the optional PSAT should be receiving their scores this week. Those scores will help inform next steps to prepare for the SAT. Juniors who completed Geometry and Algebra II by end of Sophomore year have enough math to take the SAT ahead of the spring, so if you missed the PSAT or just want a chance to see where you are, you can register for an SAT test date HERE.
Many selective academic summer programs have application deadlines starting in early December, so November is a great month to solidify what your student may want to do and start those applications.
Dual enrollment - high school and a college course - is now one of the ways to indicate that a student is able to handle the rigor of college. Sophomores and higher grades may want to consider a College Now class this spring at CCNY or Hunter. Registration and courses can be found on those school's websites.
January regents week is a week of no school for most students and may be a good (& short) opportunity to make an impact in your community. Students can plan now what they'd like to volunteer doing and pitch their idea to a local non-profit to use that week for a good cause. Team up with friends and maximize fun and impact. |

Reminder - Red Lion Showcase Please sign up HERE if interested. This is a first at LaGuardia, where we are organizing to have our own showcase at the iconic Red Lion club. We are excited to have our seniors showcase their talents, but to get a date we need to get students' commitment to perform in this iconic location where the Beatles and endless popular performers started out. |
TRUCKLOAD OF THANKS We are so grateful to parent Patricia Dineli Chesky and her son, Class of 2025 Tech graduate Lucca Chesky (pictured above), for making the connections necessary for LaG to acquire thousands of dollars worth of professional lighting equipment for free! This remarkable gift will enhance our productions for years to come, and our theaters will shine even brighter as a result of their extraordinary support.
And a big shout out to Erin Banks, who saved the day by dropping off much-needed distilled water for the Costume Shop irons to keep our fabrics crisp and stage-ready.
Many thanks Patricia, Lucca, and Erin, we're so lucky to have you all as part of our Tech family!
THIS MONTH'S POTS MEETING The special guest for this month's POTS meeting will be: Scott Stokke. Scott is a senior parent and Chair of the All School Musical Committee. Meeting minutes and recordings from past POTS meetings are available HERE.
FABSCRAP IS AB FAB Ms. Dombrowski recommends FABSCRAP! This fabric recycling organization sorts textiles by hand since there is no mechanized system yet for sorting them by fiber or removing stickers, staples and fabric headers. FABSCRAP volunteers save roughly 2,000 pounds of fabric every week from landfills and make the materials accessible to creators and crafters. Volunteers are welcome to up to five pounds of free fabric as a thank you for completing a three-hour volunteer session. Click HERE for more info and be fabulous too! |
