Part of the Academic Forum's role is to meet with counterparts among LaGuardia High School faculty, administrators, and with others involved in academic matters.
So far this year, the Academic Forum met with and has regular engagement with Ms. Shelliann Roach, the Assistant Principal - Guidance, who reached out to partner together on getting more information to/from families.
Since then, we've helped review and reformat the College Admissions Handbook, a valuable resource to assist LaGuardia students and families in navigating the college application process, located on LaG's website HERE.
We will soon begin work with Guidance, on a Class of 2027 'Juniors' version of the College Admissions Handbook to align with and support students in this highly competitive college admissions environment where some students choose to submit early decision and/or early action to improve their acceptance chances. With those deadlines starting in mid-October for some schools, we will aim to create a guide tailored to Juniors and focused on what they can do ahead of senior year. The Guidance office's resource realignment is also making possible the opportunity for earlier post-secondary support from the Guidance team for Juniors.
If you have any ideas or information you'd like the Academic Forum to share with the Guidance Team, please email academicforum@laguardiahspa.org.
We will also begin to meet regularly with Principal Marwah on academic focus areas and support opportunities. We look forward to sharing those highlights with you.
Lastly, we want to pass along this information sheet that lists all the SUNY campuses that offer honors programs HERE. |

Exciting November on the Horizon November is going to be a big month for the Music Studio. The Music Studio Showcase at Hill Country Barbecue Market will take place on Sunday, November 9 @ 2:00pm, benefiting the Music Studio PA (not an official LaGuardia event). We will also be bringing back the Double Good Popcorn fundraiser during the month. (That woot of excitement you just heard in the distance was a junior or senior family fondly remembering their popcorn haul from two years ago.) And keep an eye out for an announcement about the Music Summer Camps Presentation, coming the first week of the month. |
