This year's Annual Benefit will take place on Tuesday, June 6 at Bottino. Details to follow so for now please SAVE THE DATE.

The theme, WE ARE LAGUARDIA, is designed to inspire our community to renew our commitment to our dual mission school. We will celebrate our smart, talented and incredibly hard working students, teachers and administrators and all the supportive parents/guardians on the sidelines.

All proceeds support ALL programs and Studios at LaG.  With your generous help, we are hoping to reach our goal of $100,000.

REACH OUT TO BUSINESSES IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD

HERE is a letter you can use to solicit donations.

Or if you prefer for a benefit committee member to reach out to a business in your area, please fill out this FORM.

All Auction items must be submitted no later than: May 19, 2023

This Week @ LaG

Let's celebrate women's contributions to history, culture, and society!

Did you know... the first Woman's History Day was celebrated in 1909 in New York City to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the garment workers' strikes when 15,000 women marked through lower Manhattan? From 1909 to 1910, immigrant women who worked in garment factories held a strike to protest their working conditions. Most of them were teen girls who worked 12-hour days.

In acknowledgement of Women’s History Month, the LaGuardia High School Debate Club and Latinos Unidos Club, are hosting a toiletry drive.  Donated items will be given to the Antonio Olivieri Homeless Drop-in Center and will be distributed to women in need.

The drive will begin on Monday, March 13th and end on Wednesday, March, 28th.

Donation boxes will be in the main lobby. No used or open items please! Some items we would like to collect are:

Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Nail Files, Mouthwash, Soap, Washcloths,, Body Wash, Deodorant, Lotion, Socks, Underwear (various sizes), Sanitary Napkins & Tampons, Combs & Brushes, Shampoo, Conditioner, Hand Sanitizer

How to Support Our Community

Donate your time - Whether you’re available once a week, once a month, or once a year, please fill out our volunteer questionnaire so that we can reach out to you when an activity suits you. This will allow you to meet and team up with other LaG families who share your interests in our school. Go to our Volunteer Interests, Skills and Resources form here.

Annual Appeal - Your generosity helps LAGHSPA minimize the impact of long-standing NYC DOE budget gaps in our children’s education. LaG teachers and administrators work diligently to make the most of their budget, and the LaG PA provides necessary additional resources. To give online today click here.

Donor's Choose - Fund classroom projects and needs as requested by our teachers.  View our teacher's projects here

Specific Initiatives -  Funding for one-time initiatives or grade specific requests such as Graduation.

Many of the special supplies and materials teachers need to carry out their planned curriculum cannot be purchased through the DOE system and are cost prohibitive to both students and teachers. Our support is crucial to help fund these projects!

Ms. Fischer desperately needs to replace a dying laptop in order to correspond with parents, students and staff, check homework, take attendance, input grades and other school related tasks. (Only $137 to go!)

Ms. Riley needs enamel paint and wood panels, which will enable students to create paintings in a new style.

Mr. Abikzer needs cameras so the students can successfully complete the yearbook and continue covering events as they occur at school.

Ms. Klein needs banker boxes to move old files to a new place, so the file cabinets can be removed to make more space for the students and give them a safe, comfortable learning environment.

Ms. Johnson needs copies of Clint Smith's poetry collection Counting Descent so students can have their own copy of the text and are able to engage directly with the writing on the page. This will help them to better process and analyze the poems.

Ms. Laricchia needs a new reliable laptop to deliver fun, engaging lessons everyday for students studying world languages. (Be one of the first supporters!)

Please visit our DonorsChoose page and share with your family and friends.  Anyone can contribute and all donations are tax deductible.

Your contributions and/or sharing of these links is greatly appreciated!
