DEADLINE TODAY!

PA Bylaws Need Updating
This notice was emailed through PupilPath (subject: PA Bylaws review) to all current families on Friday, 5/6 at 9:02 am.

Changes in the Chancellor of Education's regulations require all NYC public schools to update their Bylaws this school year. A committee of the Executive Board has undertaken a comprehensive review, focusing on three main objectives:

  1. to make sure the Bylaws conform with the updated Chancellor's Regulation A-660
  2. to define Executive Board functions and responsibilities, and
  3. to clarify and define the PA financial affairs

A draft of the updated bylaws is
here, so that PA members can offer feedback before the document is finalized. To help with your review, we have also attached the current Bylaws and the relevant Chancellor's Regulation A-660. (Note that in the draft, the green highlights are direct quotations from the chancellor's regulation A-660).

Please email your feedback to laghspabylawscommittee@gmail.com no later than May 15th, 2022. The final document will be distributed on May 26th and voted on at our final General PA meeting on May 31st, 2022, in time to be in effect for the Spring PA elections on June 14th, 2022.

PA Executive Board Spring Elections 2022-2023

Want to be part of a vibrant, creative and committed group of LaGuardia parents? Become a leader in our Parents Association Executive Board!

On Tuesday June 14, at 6 PM on Zoom, we will elect members to the PA's Executive Board. We encourage everyone to consider running for a position, so please do by emailing us at
lagpaelections@gmail.com.

We're kicking off our election season by first announcing the PA's three mandatory positions: Co-Presidents; Treasurer; Recording Secretary.

As we update our PA bylaws, and ratify them at our General PA meeting on Tuesday, May 31, the other PA Executive Board positions will be revealed, so stay tuned!

Please note that our school must have at least one mandatory position filled by June 30, 2022 in order to have a functioning PA for the 2022-2023 academic year.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Seeking PA Volunteers!

We're looking for volunteers to join our Nominating Committee in preparation for the 2022-23 PA (Executive Board) and the 2022-24 SLT (School Leadership Team) elections taking place in June. The only requirements to be part of the committee are: a) you must be a parent or guardian of a student at LaGuardia and b) you must not be a current EB member planning to run for the 2022-23 PA Executive Board (this stipulation does not apply to the 2022-24 SLT elections). Please email: laguardiahspa@gmail.com.

The Communications/Website Committee is seeking additional volunteers with data / document / content / website management skills (spreadsheets, DMS, graphics, CMS, etc). We look forward to hearing from you if you can help with a current project and/or if you'd like to learn how you can help to support the Comms/Web Team next year: lagvolunteers@gmail.com.
