NYS Dream Act Workshop

Thursday, 3/31 at 10 am

Brought to you by the Division of Multilingual Learners (DML) and will be facilitated by DML/CUNY Immigrant Community Ambassadors – a group of immigrant DOE alumni enrolled in CUNY colleges who are committed to prioritizing postsecondary planning and access for immigrant communities. Students will learn about the NYS Dream Act eligibility requirements, which allows students, regardless of immigration status, to access New York state grants and scholarships to fund higher education. Students will also learn the NYS Dream Act eligibility requirements and gain strategies and resources to highlight this financial aid source for students. This workshop is available to students in grades 10-12 and will be held in both English & Spanish.

Please Join the LaG HS PA/SLT Nominating Committee

Alumni & Friends of LaGuardia has been offered 100 tickets for ¡Viva Maestro! on Monday, April 4th, at 6:30 pm at the Walter Reade Theater, 165 West 65th Street.

All details are here, including instructions to RSVP (by April 1). Once the 100 seats are claimed, the link will become inactive.

"When conductor Gustavo Dudamel’s international tours are disrupted by deadly protests across his native Venezuela, one of the world’s finest and most beloved musicians faces a daunting set of challenges—to his commitment to the mentor who changed his life, to friends and musicians he’s led since his teens, and to his belief in art’s transformative capacity. ¡Viva Maestro!, the uplifting and timely new documentary from acclaimed director Ted Braun, follows Dudamel around the world as he responds to unexpected and imposing obstacles with stirring music-making that celebrates the power of art to renew and unite."

See the trailer here.

A Q&A with director Ted Braun, moderated by Director of Music at Americas Society, Sebastián Zubieta will take place immediately after the screening, followed by a reception.
