Blurb From Ben

Dear Music Studio Families,

Happy 2024!

Welcome back! I hope you all a relaxing and enjoyable holiday season and time spent with loved ones.

I sent out a letter to the community weeks before the break containing some important information about some exciting opportunities. Please see below in as reminders and mark your calendars.

Interlochen Arts Camp

LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, Interlochen Center for the Arts share the goal of making the world a better place through arts education. I am thrilled to announce the continued partnership between our world class institutions, culminating in an opportunity for our students to be awarded scholarships to attend Interlochen Arts Camp this summer.

As a partner of Interlochen, our students are eligible for a limited number of full tuition scholarships to attend camp in summer 2024. In order to be considered for this scholarship opportunity, you must complete an APPLICATION by January 15.  LaGuardia students must apply using application fee waiver code: LaGuardia24 in order for them to know that you are applying from LaGuardia.  The following digital materials are available to learn more about Interlochen Arts Camp:

For more information click here. The deadline to apply is January 22, 2024

As you begin planning for the summer please also know that we plan to continue our LaGuardia Summer Arts program (pending NYCDOE funding), and our partnership with Mostly Mozart for their instrumental music summer program at Lincoln Center.  I will share more information about these programs this winter.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • Our Winter Concert Series is in full swing! One of the best ways to both support our program and have a great night out is to attend ourconcerts!  All concert proceeds go directly to support our program.  Our program needs include the upkeep of instruments, purchasing of music for our ensembles, and funding teaching artists that work with our students.  We have multiple concerts in the month of January.  Tickets for January concerts can be purchased athttps://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/laguardiahs/699.

  • In order to perform at LaGuardia, students must complete the DOE media release.
