Help Wind Symphony Go to NYSSMA
A Message from 05' LaG Band Alums

The LaGuardia High School Wind Symphony has been selected to perform at the 87th Annual New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Winter Conference in Rochester! This is both an exceptional and historic achievement, as they are the first New York City public school ensemble ever to be selected to perform at the conference.

We are asking you to congratulate and support these students by donating to help defray some costs that will be incurred by families. The Wind Symphony will travel together from NYC to Rochester for a two-night stay, where costs will include hotel accommodations, transportation, meals, and more.

All funds will be donated directly to LaGuardia High School to support the Wind Symphony. Your donations will help subsidize the cost for all students, and especially for students in need of financial assistance in order to attend this trip. Let's make sure that every student is able to perform in Rochester!

As a community, we want to support each and every one of these fantastic students in attending the performance in Rochester. The Wind Symphony represents the legacy of our current, past, and future LaGuardia students. Max and I are part of that legacy - Class of 2005! LaGuardia has given so much to us - it is time for us to give back.

Join us in celebrating this wonderful accomplishment, and please donate today to help make this a memorable and impactful experience for the students of the LaGuardia High School Wind Symphony!

-Terence Lee and Max Sholl, LaGuardia Class of 2005 (and proud band alums!)

Blurb From Ben

Dear Music Studio Families,

Happy November!

In my community letter last month I stated that one of the best ways to both support our program and have a great night out is to attend our concerts! Our first concert of the school year is this Thursday, November 17 at 6:00pm in the Little Flower Theater and will feature The LaGuardia Jazz Ensemble led by Mr. Carbone and the LaGuardia Jazz Orchestra led by Mr. Blancq.  All concert proceeds go directly to support our program. Our program needs include the upkeep of instruments, purchasing of music for our ensembles, and funding teaching artists that work with our students. Tickets can be purchased here

As a reminder, there are many outside student opportunities and free tickets. Please remember to take a look at the running list of Music Studio Partnership Events and Masterclasses.  Please note that this list will grow throughout the school year and we will be strategic to ensure that all grade levels/ensembles/instrument groups have opportunities that are appropriate to their needs.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at Bschott@schools.nyc.gov if you have any questions or concerns.

While we work to continuously support our students and teachers, we definitely cannot achieve this without your help.  These necessary funds are used to purchase the music our students perform, workshops, master classes, professional development, accompanists and so much more.
