Blurb from Ben

Hello Music Studio Families,

I am excited to provide you with information on some upcoming outside performances that our upper level choruses will be participating in!

Senior Chorus

To commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Senior Chorus will perform in We Are Here: Songs from the Holocaust at Carnegie Hall on January 26.  This concert, presented by The Museum of Jewish Heritage, features songs written in the ghettos and camps of Nazi-occupied Europe performed by top cantors alongside pop and Broadway talent. From heart-wrenching folk ballads to up-tempo satire, these songs present a powerful tribute to artists who, in the worst of times, continued to create and make a better world for us all. For more information and to purchase tickets go to https://www.carnegiehall.org/Calendar/2023/01/26/We-Are-Here-Songs-from-the-Holocaust-0730PM

Show Choir

The Show Choir will join New York City Opera for an evening of caroling at Bryant Park on Tuesday, December 13 at 6:00 pm. A quartet of singers from New York City Opera will perform an hour of iconic Christmas carols alongside students from the Show Choir, accompanied by a brass quintet. This concert will be filled with holiday favorites perfect for people of all ages. This free performance takes place near the Christmas Tree and can be enjoyed by skaters on the Rink as well as visitors throughout the rink deck.

Gospel Choir

As part of our ongoing collaboration with Interlochen Center for the Arts, our choir students will be featured in a performance on March 3 in David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center

The performance is being hosted by the New York Philharmonic, featuring 140 Interlochen Arts Academy students. The performance will open with the world premiere of an interdisciplinary piece titled Mukti. That will be followed by a side-by-side performance featuring the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra and members of the Philharmonic performing works by Valerie Coleman, John Wineglass, Jonathan Bailey Holland, and Mary Watkins. At the end of the concert, our Gospel Choir will join in a surprise performance of Glory by John Legend and Common.

Tickets to this performance are selling fast! As a partner of Interlochen, we are being offered deeply discounted tickets, at a total price of $10 per person, inclusive of all fees. To purchase tickets for your family, please visit the New York Philharmonic Box Office today and use code FAMILY10.
