Bravo!

Congratulations to the LaGuardia Jazz Orchestra led by Rocco Carbone and the LaGuardia Jazz Ensemble led by Kevin Blancq who entertained a nearly full house on Friday evening in the Little Flower Theatre.  The performances were amazing, with many audience members saying that it felt like they were at a professional show, as opposed to a high school performance!

Rising Stars Survey

The Rising Stars survey is extended to 6 pm this Tuesday, 11/8 (TOMORROW!)

The future of Rising Stars is at stake. We have received about 100 responses, but there are 2,400+ students at LaG this year. If the student body thinks Rising Stars is important to the LaG community (regardless of whether or not they wish to participate), it is crucial for them to speak up!

NOTE: Students should use their @laguardiahspa.org email accounts to take the survey.

For questions or feedback, please email risingstars@laguardiahspa.org

Blurb from Ben

Hello Music Studio families,

What a wonderful weekend of music for LaGuardia friends and family! On Friday night the Jazz Ensemble led by Rocco Carbone and the Jazz Orchestra Fall led by Kevin Blancq performed in the Little Flower Theater.  It was an amazing show with some spectacular performances by the students.

On Saturday, the Operetta cast appeared as the chorus in the New York premiere of Hometown to the World, a chamber opera at The Town Hall. It was another wonderful show and a great opportunity for LaG students.

The running list for student opportunities - which can be reviewed here - has several upcoming free ticket opportunities.

Best,

Ben

Music Studio Merch

The Music Studio had a very successful School Spirit Shopping Day on October 27th!!  We sold out of a lot of our old items and showed off some of our new ones!  We will be ordering more merch soon and will have some exciting new items in stock for upcoming concerts and future in school shopping days.

Just a reminder, our online Music Studio Store is still closed, but once we are open for business, you will hear about it here first!  If you have questions or comments please email lagmusicstudiostore@gmail.com

Show your Appreciation

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year!

As many of you know, contributions to the Music Studio help pay for a variety of events - the senior class celebration and Accepted Students Open House - as well as the accompanist for chorus classes, additional live-streaming of Music performances, and other concert expenses. If families contributed $100 (or more!!) for every student, we could help the Music Studio pay for so many of these expenses.  Since LaGuardia is a 501(c)(3) organization, your donation is tax-deductible.

You can make a one-time donation or set up a recurring monthly donation - whichever works better for you - to the Music Studio (and the PA) through PayPal. To do so, click the Direct Donation link below or follow these instructions:

Log into your MTK account, click on Ways to Give under the Donate & Volunteer drop-down menu, then on the underlined red link Donate to a specific studio (2 places on the page allow you to do that). The PayPal page that appears is auto-filled to make a donation to the General PA, but you can designate the Music Studio by clicking on the drop-down menu. Below that box is the option to make your donation a monthly-recurring one. Or, by leaving that box unchecked, the donation will be a one-time donation.

You can select any amount you like to donate. Contributions are very much needed, and all are gratefully received!

Click Direct Donation to give to the LaGuardia PA.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteering is a great way to meet people and learn more about Music Studio affairs. Become a volunteer today to support our students and staff all year long, not just at performances. Please make sure you have filled out your volunteer questionnaire on your Membership Toolkit profile.
